In the final days, candidates need all the help they can get to visit all the city’s neighborhoods. They also need help on Election Day having supporters willing to hold signs for them at each of Portsmouth’s five voting locations. If you are able to help out – even if only for a few hours, there are two ways you can do it:
1) Offer to visit canvass neighborhoods in the weekend before the election (Saturday, October 31st, and Sunday, November 1st), leaving candidates’ literature at the homes of voters. Many voters do not make up their minds until the final days, and a final opportunity to see a piece of literature with a friendly face can make a big difference.
2) On Election Day (Tuesday, November 3rd), offer to take an hour or more at one of the polling locations to hold the signs of some of the One Portsmouth candidates. If you haven’t done it before, standing outside the polling locations is one of the most civic, interactive activities you can do in Portsmouth. It’s a time when several thousand neighbors come together in a single day, and it really is a celebration of democracy.

You’ll be contacted as Election Day nears with specific information about locations and other logistics. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s a great way to support these candidates that are willing to give so much to support our community. Thanks!
